The annual Dragon Ball was once a highlight of the Australian-Chinese calendar, and for one night only it was back – to mark the end of the Lunar New Year celebrations.
A fixture on the Chinese social calendar from the 1930s to the 1970s, Sydney’s Dragon Ball was first held in the Trocadero and then moved to Sydney Town Hall. These glamorous evenings of swing, dancing, cocktails and frocks were the place where Chinese debutantes were presented to society.
With the fabulous sounds of our own Dragon Ball big band featuring the best of swing from days gone by and giving contemporary songs a classic styling, the renewed Dragon Ball takes all the glamour of the past and fuses it with a contemporary edge.
